Quality/Safety Improvement

Quality and patient safety, referred to as “effective” and “safe” care in the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) six aims for improvement in healthcare, are typically the number one goal for providers. Continuous improvement in these two areas helps to ensure the provision of high quality, effective and safe care to patients. And, as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as other large payers, continue to establish pay for performance programs, providers who perform well on industry-standard quality and patient safety measures will be rewarded through reimbursements.
